Sunday Night Wine Up was a 2020 Itsas Mendi 7 purchased in Spain by our daughter. First vintage was 2003 and what is unique about this wine is the tradition to which it is served. The Basque tradition is to pour the wine into tall, flat-bottomed glasses from 8 to 10 inches in the air. This agitates the wine, enhancing Txakoli's gentle sparkling effect. Txakoli is refreshingly bracing and light bodied wine. The color is a clear yellow honey. Aromas of citrus and white fruits, together with a hint of herbs. We did find a little lemon, lime, apple, pear and sometimes pineapple. The alcohol made our mouths water and the wine finished with some zest at the end.
